Jack as I slip, slide, stumble and fall into my 62nd year I have great apprehensions. Is our great Republic (Benjamin Franklin replies to the lady outside the Constitutional Convention when she asks do we have a Democracy or a Republic? Old Ben replies a Republic if we can keep it). We still pledge allegiance to the Flag of a Republic but not one out of ten legislators will say so to them we are a democracy very sad. I was speaking to former Idaho Governor Don Samuelson the other day he is the Chairman of the Lake Pend O reille Shoreline Association which I have been on the board of Directors for several years. Don is conservative and has been working since he was Governor 67-71 to instill some common sense operation in this government he is now 86 years old and still working at it. I told him the other day that I do not want to be a defeatist but do feel like one. Don wrote a very good book about his life a few years ago" His Hand on My Shoulder" it is very inspirational and when I get to feeling overwhelmed about what is happening in this country I read it again and have several times.

Article 1 Section 8 of our Constitution lays out quite clearly what powers the federal government has 18m, very limited Section 9 lists the powers the Fed.’s do not have

Somehow during the last 50 or 60 years the people have allowed the government to take on much of what was not allowed to it in the constitution. Lord Acton (sic) certainly was right about power corrupting.

We just had a Black Bear in one of our apple trees he or she ate its fill and moved on now several Deer (5) are picking up the leftovers.

How do you like the smirk on the president’s face, as he veto’s the measly tax cut. As he said in Atlanta he worries that we may not spend any refunds properly, what is not to love about this wonderful Coward in chief.

Can you just imagine what the Feds will take on after they get through with the Tobacco companies some jerk Reynolds on Hannity Colmes shouting that tobacco killed his dad and he wants justice 25 Billion should be about right. I was on Rayburn when the surgeon general came out with the warnings and when he said, "I am not Shitting" I quit. Individual responsibility be damned.

I certainly agree with your analysis of the Patriot, Militia situation once the first shot is fired it is all over that is why we need more guns in the country not less so that government will hopefully remember the importance of an armed citizenry in making tyranny a very unhealthy option. One if by land, two if by sea, three if by Tyranny. Is it about time for Paul to take another ride? The President is releasing known terrorists yet continues along with the media to attack and demonize anyone that thinks the 2nd amendment is for anything but duck hunting. Consider, if the recent shooting in Fort Worth had been in a Gay Bar instead of a church full of Christians the cries of anguish from the administration and left wing media would be to pass yet another hate crime anti terrorism bill. Not so of course with Christians and will not be since this unrighteous government saw fit to remove God and the 10 Commandments from the public schools, rather we shall go after the guns again. Understand a large share of this terrorist problem can be laid at the feet of President Carter, he released several FALN terrorists during his reign and also granted amnesty for the Vietnam draft dodgers without which William Jefferson Clinton could never have become president. Roy Jones said recently that without Waco Oklahoma would never have been. That statement has deep roots in the left wing philosophy, that no one is responsible for their own actions, which must be blamed on someone or something else. Please take notice of the common denominator of government terrorism at Waco and Ruby Ridge religion and guns!

As to the number of those that turn out to vote. When I inquire as to that subject the reply is Huey, Dewey, Louie they are all the same. Cynicism runs deep and many say why make the effort to support a system that is so corrupt. You did notice the great turn out in Minnesota for the Mind, Jesse Ventura. I think the same thing could have happened in 1992 had the little General not fell off the deep end and accused the Bush group of trying to get some pictures of a daughter in some compromising positions or situations. What was it Will Rogers said? There ain’t a dimes worth of difference between the Democrats and Republicans. If misery does love company there must be a very happy bunch within the beltway, especially after Kennedy recently said he would run again and again. The very best to you Jack and your lovely Bride. I have studied each of the documents from J J Johnson and the

soon to be retired Marine Col. Much of what they say is inargueable

and painfully true. Much of what they say is rhetoric intended to convey

truths as they perceive them, but seldom is a solution offered to problems

identified. Johnson speaks of Patriots and Militia and certainly these groups exist

and for good and noble purpose. Unfortunately they are doomed to failure

unless one considers loss of life or freedom to be success. There could

be one million groups of one hundred persons each and still there can be no

success. Unify those one hundred million and now probability swings in favor

of the multitude. One thing is common to all these groups of the past, they

have eventually been defeated by confrontation.

Johnson mentions Rush Limbaugh and while I occassionally listen to him,

it is important to remember that radio talk show is how he shrewdly makes

his living. He's good and quite well paid. Would he do it for nothing?????

I agree with much he says but between the lines it is all too apparent that

the benefit of all the controversy goes to the special interest groups who

stir the big pot. On to the Col. I have mixed feelings about his total comments. Again I

believe reading between the lines there is more to the story. Dont know

what but could be personal frustration at not achieving what he truly

wanted. He makes some interesting points which define much of

our problem with the military. He even offers some solutions which

are not new and when examined only really define the solutions, ie,

"We need great leaders". The real solution is to find these great leaders.

Where will they come from? It is most likely that these great leaders

are todays infants or yet to be born. Given that they will be raised in

todays social environment, it is unlikely they will survive to the task.

I dont have the answers but believe strongly that the solutions lie at

the grass roots level - Family, Regard for law and order, Dedication to

the betterment of our Quality of Life(not as indivuals but for the common

good), Business which regards its workers with the same yardstick as it does its

Profit, Attacking problems rather than circumventing them, return to the ABC's in

our Education system, and on but all at the grass roots not by bigger government

and more dollars. Where a Central Government was necessary at one time, it

would seem at this point to be a hinderance. And finally the biggest problem of all - How to unite those splintered one

million into a united one hundred million. Man's greed may be an insurmountable stumbling

block. I believe Johnson and the Col. and the many similar voices have a message

worth listening to, but to solve the problem takes unified action. What percentage of

eligible voters turned out at the last election.??? Rhetorical question.

Someone said "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely" and

so how do we lessen the power allowed the corrupt??
